English: PDF [538K]

This document provides an overview of strategies to protect HIV-affected orphans and vulnerable children (OVC) from abuse, exploitation, violence, and neglect. Gaps in current child protection strategies (particularly those employed within PEPFAR OVC programs) are highlighted, in addition to a range of best practices or promising strategies for preventing and responding to child abuse, exploitation, and neglect. The report also outlines ways to measure the success of specific strategies, and provides a list of tools and resources available to program implementers and designers to support implementation of strategies.
