Summary

This handbook was created to strengthen health workers' ability to counsel and communicate with community members about care of women and newborns during pregnancy, childbirth, postnatal, and post-abortion periods. In 17 Sections the book gives an overview of counseling and addresses specific health topics such as labor and childbirth, post-natal or post-abortion care, breastfeeding, family planning, and warning signs during pregnancy.
