Summary
This document details recommendations updated in 2012 for HIV treatment of pregnant women and prophylaxis for perinatal HIV transmission in the United States. It provides health care providers with information to help HIV-1 infected pregnant women make informed decisions regarding the use of antiretroviral drugs during pregnancy and the use of elective cesarean delivery to reduce perinatal HIV transmission.
