Medical guidelines on HIV care change rapidly, and this resource is from 2005. For the most up-to-date information, please refer to clinical guidelines on treatment of HIV/AIDS and medication packet inserts. This resource is a comprehensive clinical manual that addresses the primary care needs unique to women with HIV infection. This edition has new chapters on international issues and nutrition. Women require a separate clinical care resource because they are often challenged by social isolation, poverty, discrimination and lack of access to quality health care relative to men. This document seeks to address these disadvantages experienced by women, along with other unique vulnerabilities, such as childbirth.
