Speak for the Child was a pilot project in Western Kenya from 2001 to 2003. Its
purpose was to develop and test community strategies, models, and tools to improve the health, nutrition, and psychosocial care and development of young orphans and vulnerable children. This guide is intended to assist program managers in the planning, design, implementation, and monitoring and evaluation of community-based programs to for young orphans and vulnerable children. The guide provides step-by-step information and tools in the following areas: connecting with the community, identifying and targeting young orphans and vulnerable children, program implementation, and monitoring and evaluation.
